You may have read my pulse about losing my cat. It was my 8-month-old kitten,
Spencer. He had
FIP(Effusive/"Wet" form), and my Vet figures he had it when I got him, and possibly from birth. I take comfort that he was comfortable for the short time I had him, and nothing I did caused anything but good for him. He was put to sleep before the disease progressed to complete organ shutdown and pain. He's at peace now, and he'll always have a place in my heart. As the saying goes, "cats leave pawprints on your heart." And he left some great ones!
Vala's still here, and seems a bit lonely without her Spencer to pick on. But she's just attached to us more now, and amuses herself with the rings from the milk jug caps, slid around in the bathtub. It's cute until she does it at 2am...

And in somewhat related news, we're getting a dog. I had wanted to get one, and a great one just came along. She's a Husky(purebred), Red/White, a year old, and a real sweetheart. I met her the other day, then my fiance and I went to see her today, and we'll bring her home tomorrow. Her owners had to rehome her because she and her brother are too much, since they have 3 kids, and another on the way! She's spayed, housebroken, crate trained, and up to date on all her shots. Her name is Lightning(her brother is Thunder). And here's a couple pictures, I'll add more when she comes home, of course.

how pretty!!!!
That is a beautiful dog...those eyes are so hypnotizing
@Joeyj1220 - She's even more gorgeous in person! And after a bath
@godfatherofgreenbay - I LOVE her eyes! It's so cute when they roll back in her head while you give her tummy scratches!
Sorry about your kitty
, but woohoo for that handsome pooch!
@AlterEgo909 - A funny point I forgot in the blog, I never thought I'd be nostalgic about pee spots, but when cleaning up all the spots where Spencer had accidents towards the end, I had tears in my eyes! He was the absolute sweetest cat I've ever had, and he'll live forever in my heart. If anything this has just shown me how much good just bringing a wandering stray home does. He could have died hurting out in the cold. I think he was grateful even.
And Lightning is so gorgeous. The pictures don't even quite do her justice. Her owners are great, they've been so discerning in who they adopt her to, which to me is a very good thing. I met her, then my fiance and I had to go see her together, and also meet the husband. Then they gave us the night to think and talk about it, and decide. Of course we've decided we want to bring her home! I went out last night and got food, treats, and a bowl for her. I'm so excited, expect more photos!!
I lost a young cat to feline lukemia too. He was such an amazing cat. He loved to ride in the back seat of my Fiat Spider with the top down. My dog would ride in the front seat and Tootsie would sprawl across the tiny back seat like a king. I hadn't thought of him in a long time. I now have seven cats so it's hard to feel a strong attachment for all of them. I wish my neighbors would spay their cats!
You sound like you will be good dog parents. Dogs are so worth the effort they require.
