Rogha: The Best of Clannad
By Clannad
see relatedWhat was the best bargain you ever found? Where did you find it?
This will make me sound like a complete nerd!
There was a book I wanted really badly, about Native American horsemanship, called Horse, Follow Closely, the most famous book on the subject. Only problem was, by the time I was looking for it, it was out of print(naturally it's now back in print). And with an original publisher's price of $30, you can imagine how expensive all the copies I could find were! There's a bookstore locally called Atlantic Book Warehouse, and they have a section of books marked with colored dots, which tell you how much off of the publisher's price the book is(up to 90%). They're usually old library books, or returned or very shelf-worn books, and many are out of print. Most of them are worthy of being so cheap, they're off-the-wall, outdated, etc. But I always look through the section, since there are great deals hiding. One day I was browsing this section(which isn't sorted in any way, shape, or form), and a title caught my eye. Horse, Follow Closely. It didn't have the dust jacket, which wasn't a big deal, but I guess that's why it ended up there. Then I checked the color of the dot on it. It was 90% off the publisher's price, so I got it for just under $3, the absolute best bargain I've ever gotten!
I just answered this Featured Question; you can answer it too!

Woot! Good stuff!
@AlterEgo909 - I grin just remembering it.
Oh cool! One time I got a copy of Sherlock Holmes for 50 cents. I saw a second edition book of tales by Shakespeare for 75 dollars...good bargain, but not in price range.
I had that book and sold it at a garage sale for $1. It was a beautiful book but my husband was tired of building bookcases and something had to go. Since I discovered ABE.com I acquire WAY too many books.
I get so many good bargains, I have nowhere to begin.
I got my best friend flannel sheets for her King sized bed for $8.
I got my mother a huge (18" diameter) blue glass bowl for $5.
I got my niece's christmas present for $2.
The list goes on. I live for bargains.
@fly46 - I live for bargains too.
It's a skill my mother imparted on me! If I can get it at a yard sale or second hand shop, I will! And ebay is my friend
@Child_of_the_Earth - Half.com actually rocks. I resisted the site for a long time, and I still do. But I have a writer friend who's books I was trying to amass, and I got most of them on there for under $2 each. It was awesome.
I have a bookstore near me called McKay's.. It's used books, but sometimes stuff is brand new. I got a few there for 10 cents each that don't look like they've been opened.
@fly46 - I haven't bought any books in a while, but I do plan on using half.com when I do buy more! And we have a bookstore here called Secondhand Prose, but it's going out of business. It only opens anymore for festivals and things. They always had all kinds of awesome books, and the people were great, they gave me a free book they though I'd enjoy the last time I was there!
@Child_of_the_Earth - If I buy another book, I'm getting disowned.
